Golden Syrup Dumplings

Experience the bliss of these gluten free Golden Syrup Dumplings. They’re irresistible as they swim in a golden syrup infused sauce, creating a symphony of flavours. Using our Anything But Ordinary Plain Flour, this is an indulgent treat without compromise.

Serves 6

Ingredients

Dumplings

150g / 1 cup Anything But Ordinary Plain Flour

40g / ¼ cup GF custard powder

1 teaspoon baking powder

¼ teaspoon bi-carb soda

Pinch of salt

1 teaspoon golden flaxmeal

30g / 1½ tablespoons butter, melted

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

115g / ⅓ cup golden syrup

80mls / ⅓ cup milk

½ teaspoon apple cider vinegar

Sauce

175g / ½ cup golden syrup

125g / ¾ cup rapadura sugar

30g / 1½ tablespoons butter

400ml / 1⅔ cups water

Method

Combine the milk and apple cider vinegar and set aside to curdle.

Sieve the Anything But Ordinary Plain Flour, custard powder, baking powder, bi-carb soda, salt and flaxmeal. Whisk together. Add the melted butter, vanilla, golden syrup and milk and stir to combine.

In a 20cm/8inch base saucepan, combine the golden syrup, sugar, butter and water. Stir over heat until the sugar has dissolved then bring to the boil, lower the heat and when it is just simmering, drop tablespoonsful (makes 12) of mixture into the sauce. Cover and simmer for 18 minutes til cooked through.

Serve while hot with sauce ladled over, custard and/or ice cream.
